Your Glendale Community Newsletter

Mike Mohill's Glendale community newsletter with a message about government involvement.

About Mike Mohill

Mike Mohill was a regular writer for our two local newspapers. In 2012, Mike and Lorraine founded the Your Glendale Community Newsletter, which started with just a few hundred readers and has now grown to nearly 25,000 subscribers. Our all-volunteer community newsletter has always been self-funded without any advertisements. In 2026, Mike decided to expand our readership by launching a website, prompting us to ask our readers for gifts to sustain our newsletter.

Mike has always had a keen interest in government and history. In 1955, Mike’s father, a finish carpenter, built his dream home in Glendale near the Glendale Sports Center off Fern Lane Street. Since the age of 12, Mike attended Glendale schools, graduating from Glendale High School in 1960. He then went on to Los Angeles City College and later transferred to California State College, Los Angeles, where he graduated with a B.A. in Geography and a minor in Business Administration. For nearly 27 years, he worked as a traveling salesman.

After college, Mike served three years in the US Army, including a year in Vietnam. He married his wife in 1970 and became a Glendale homeowner in 1977. He actively fought against government overreach concerning the Indigenous Trees Ordinance on private property, which brought him to the Glendale City Council, where he has become a well-known city fixture. In 2011, he ran as a Glendale City Council spoiler candidate against Councilman Dave Weaver and John Drayman, successfully getting “honest” John out of office, who later went to jail and became a three-time convicted felon. Since then, Mike has run for City Council three additional times.

Additionally, Mike was a founding member of the Glendale Coalition for Better Government, contributing significantly to Glendale news.
